Web Golinkin ‘69
Web’s commitment to St. George’s stretches back decades to at least 1985, when he began to give back to the school as a donor. Since then, he’s become more involved as a member of the school’s Alumni Council since 2022; and most recently, as a Dragon Tales presenter during his 55th Reunion over Alumni Weekend last Spring.
Over the past few years, Web and his wife, Allison, have supported the school with gifts through each of their individual retirement accounts, or IRAs. Due to minimum distribtions from these accounts that are required beginning at age 73 (“RMDs”), this was a tax advantaged way for Web and Allison to give to the school they love while also helping them meet philanthropic goals.
“It made more sense from a financial standpoint for us to direct required IRA distributions to St. George’s and take the charitable deduction than it would have been to add them to our taxable income. And it was very easy to do – I just connected the plan administrator with a member of SG’s development team and he handled the rest.”
Anyone who has an IRA and may be subject to a required minimum distribution this year may find it easy and convenient to support St. George’s through their IRA. Interested in learning more?
